YouTuber shows that Shovel Knight is actually 3D

Recently, the popular Boundary Break YouTube channel worked closely with the developer, Yacht Club Games, to create a special episode dedicated to Knight shovel series. What did YouTuber find is that the Knight shovel the games are actually 2D games built in a 3D engine.

This is the most interesting and visually impressive video discovery. To see a game that looks so retro and very 2D to be rotated in 3D is a good thing. Yacht Club Games developer David D'Angelo said it was because the engine was built before the studio knew exactly what they were going to make. While they wanted to create a 2D game, the 3D engine gave them more options and allowed them to debug the game more easily and bring it to multiple platforms.

Although the 3D revelation is perhaps the most exciting part of this recent video, the episode also contains some other interesting things.

For example, Knight shovel contains some remaining elements and illustrations that the developer even admits should not be there. D'Angelo mentions that future versions of the game could remove these remains, like strange tiles floating behind a background. These tiles, with the mention TB on them, are transparent and are linked to the system that allows players to break blocks in certain areas. He was left in the game by mistake.

The full episode deserves to be watched if you are a huge Knight shovel fan or just want to see how much work has been done to make these games.
