zack snyder's justice league is a movie

Zack Snyderof Justice League went from a movie, to a multi-year internet campaign, to a miniseries, and now, back to a movie. In other words, according to the filmmaker himself, who has revealed some new details of his highly anticipated “Snyder Cut” by Justice League, which is coming to HBO Max this year.

Another day, another Vero update from Zack Snyder, who used the social media platform (of which he still appears to be the only high-level user) to reveal that the current title Justice League by Zack Snyder will no longer be released as a mini-series. Instead, it will be released as a “one-shot” movie, as he replied to a fan who asked if the project was a series or a movie (via The Playlist).

It’s a big change of plans for Snyder and HBO Max, the latter not having confirmed the filmmaker’s comment. Snyder himself initially called it a series, and Warner Bros. and HBO Max have heavily marketed Justice League by Zack Snyder as a four- or five-part miniseries, with the hope that the project will attract more subscribers to the WarnerMedia streaming platform.

Given Snyder’s recent comments on a theatrical release of the project and an R-rated cut, his new confirmation that his version Justice League will be a movie may not come as a total surprise. He had even called it a ‘movie’ before, saying, ‘Here’s a piece of information nobody knows: the movie is crazy and so epic and is probably rated R – it’s something I think is going to happen, that it will be an R-rated version for sure. We haven’t heard of the MPAA, but it’s my gut.

Snyder also recently stated that his “ideal version” of Justice League “Is the black-and-white IMAX version of the film,” an idea HBO Max seemed to humiliate with the release of a black-and-white trailer for Justice League by Zack Snyder. It’s worth noting that none of these new elements are confirmed, or even very likely, and with the pandemic situation being as it is, it’s hard to imagine Snyder getting the theatrical release he wants. As for the whole thing being a movie instead of a series now? Well, we’ll have to see what HBO Max has to say in the coming weeks.

In Justice League by Zack Snyder, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne calls on his new ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater foe. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to fight this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes – Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash – it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
