On August 5, the Nigeria Olympic Committee will pay tribute to one of Nigeria's largest Paralympians, Emoghavwe, with its Distinguished Merit Award.

The event, which is supported by the Delta State Government, is scheduled to take place at the Grand Resort Hotel and Convention Center of Asaba

Emoghavwe, who is the chairman of the Committee Nigeria's Paralympic, will be recognized for its tremendous contributions to the development of Paralympic sports and the Paralympic Movement in Nigeria

Born April 2, 1963 in Abraka, Ethiope East LGA of Delta State, Monday Emoghavwe attended Aevwaeke Primary Abraka School from 1973 to 1979 and Abraka Grammar School from 1980 to 1985. He also studied Business Administration at the University of Lagos from 1995 to 1999 as well as Physical Education and Health at the Federal College of Education. , Zuba Abuja in 2012.

Emoghavwe has represented and won laurels for Nigeria at various international sports competitions. "In the para-sports field, Emoghavwe is recognized as a pioneer of sport for people with disabilities." In collaboration with his colleagues, Emoghavwe started practicing sports for people with disabilities at the Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Center in Nigeria (NAICS ) in Maryland, Lagos.

He began winning gold medals for the Nigeria Games, in Harare, Zimbabwe, in 1995. He also won the gold medal at the Paralympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta, USA To top it off, Emoghavwe won the Paralympic gold medal in Powerlifting at the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000.

For his outstanding contributions to the sport, the NOC saw fit to recognize this illustrious son of Nigeria who has won a number of international awards and prizes
