Google started rolling out YouTube's dark mode for its Android users, a quarter after iOS devices received the feature. Dark mode makes the interface completely black and reduces the pressure on the eyes while navigating the application, especially at night.

The feature was added for the first time to YouTube last year, followed by iOS in March of this year. Android devices can access Settings and then General. The Dark Theater rocker is in the Digital Wellbeing section, under the "Remind me to take a break" function.

In addition to the aforementioned benefit of reducing eye strain, the dark mode gives a more immersive experience. It also saves battery on mobile devices. Phones with OLED panels will, of course, provide deeper blacks in the videos.

This is only the latest new feature that YouTube has introduced on the platform. He recently started letting creators add hashtags to titles and description of videos to improve the search. It is also testing a new Explore tab on iOS devices, which will replace the Trends section on the platform.

Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, recently revealed that the video streaming platform has 1.9 billion active users per month. 180 million hours of video on television screens per month. The company is also planning its original programming on the Indian market, with Japan, France, Germany and Mexico, to better compete with Netflix, Hotstar and Amazon Prime Video.
