IFA 2019 is coming to an end, but our coverage certainly is not. I managed to save time with the new Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G improved before its release, even seeing it run on its own 5G network available on the site. The new Samsung Galaxy Fold presents a number of improvements over the previous version that was given to the industry's technical reviewers in April, and some of them are clearly noticeable. The Samsung Galaxy Fold has struggled to get there, but it will finally be in the hands of consumers throughout the month of September.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold features a number of design changes that have been made to consumers, in Samsung's eyes. The plastic film on the screen now goes under the cover to begin, and can not be removed as easily. The gap between the screens has also been bridged, which means there is less room for dirt and other small debris in the hinge mechanism. Finally, several layers of metal have been added under the display to make it more rigid.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold that we tested had 5G capabilities and reached a download speed of up to 1000 Mbps. Obviously, those who are not really real usage speeds, and it will be much slower on a public network. It's still an unbelievably impressive theoretical limit.
The main selling point of the Samsung Galaxy Fold is the fact that it can to fold. As such, once folded, it becomes surprisingly slim, with a nice little 4.6 "AMOLED panel on the outside. You can only use the device in this way, even if it is only calls, notifications and shorter periods of use. It does however have a front camera, as well as its own home screen layout. Unfolding the fold opens all its possibilities, with a dual camera configuration facing inward and a camera configuration facing outward.
