ZTE is back in business after an imminent death experience last year that still haunts the company, threatening to resume escalation if the strict conditions of a probation contract with the US Department of Commerce were once again violated. While the Chinese manufacturer is already selling some new phones in the United States, it will probably focus in the near future on the European and Asian markets, where Axon 10 Pro 5G and Blade V10 unveiled by the MWC 2019 are heading to the coming months.
ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G
The predecessor of this naughty boy looked like a good honest player who ticks almost all the good boxes at a pretty aggressive price, but everything is now upgraded and fine-tuned to keep up with the rapid changes in the industry.
5G connectivity can turn out to be a real game changer, even though global network deployment is still slow and uneven. ZTE claims a number of 5G partnerships with operators such as China Telecom, the Finnish Elisa and the Austrian Hutchison Drei, but the publication schedule is unfortunately an indeterminate "first half", with a completely hidden pricing.
It's obvious that this time, we're not dealing with an inexpensive flagship product, and not just because the 5G-compatible Axon 10 Pro incorporates a Snapdragon 855 processor and an advanced Snapdragon X50 modem. You also benefit from a faster, more "concise" fingerprint recognition method than a conventional biometric sensor slapped on the back of the handset.
Speaking of the screen, whose size and resolution are not specified, it is certainly nice to see a water-drop style notch at the top instead of the unnecessarily wide screen cutout of the Axon 9 Pro. The "chin" is also pretty thin, while ZTE announces "significant gains in size and thickness" compared to a "4G smartphone". This sounds interesting, since the Axon 9 Pro is not really bulky, but again, the details are oddly omitted.
The same goes for the number, purpose and megapixel capabilities of the three rear-facing cameras enhancing the AI, not to mention items such as memory, storage or capacity drums. It looks like this device is not finished yet, so let's move on to …
ZTE Blade V10
The big screen is surrounded by much thicker frames than those of the Axon 10 Pro 5G, but it also comes with a tiny notch case that offers a mind-blowing snapper capable of producing crystal clear selfies in dimly lit environments.
The two 16 + 5 MP cameras located at the back of the Blade V10 are also considered outstanding players, while Android 9.0 Pie manages the software, while a correct size battery at 3 100 mAh is responsible for keeping the light on.
The 4G LTE device only measures 7.8mm in thickness, removes the built-in fingerprint reader in favor of a more traditional (and less expensive) rear-mounted sensor, which also holds up to 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. There are no words on prices for this impressive mid-ranger, but people in China, Europe and Latin America only have to wait until March to get their hands on this 32MP selfie.
