The forest fires in Sweden are very demanding for the country's emergency services. On Wednesday, two Italian forest fires were lit to extinguish the flames.

– This is the third time we receive help from Italy, said Justice and Home Affairs Minister Morgan Johansson at SVT.

The channel writes that Wednesday morning 36 rescue missions are taking place in Sweden, and that Italian planes are embarked on the day. One is at 9 o'clock while the other is still on the ground due to a technical failure.

The regions of Gävleborg, Dalarna and Jämtland are particularly affected by the powerful forest fires. Forest fires in Sweden are considered the worst in modern times. The heat persists and the soil is dry and dry. The wind causes the spread of the flames at high speed.

Six Norwegian helicopters also participate in the extinction works in Sweden. Two more were sent to the country in which the emergency authorities sent this week a renewed appeal to the EU for the assistance of several helicopters.

Norwegian aid is also sent across the border to help Jämtland and Härjedalen. According to SVT, 60 homes were evacuated at Olingdal in Härjedalen, while 55 people were evacuated in the municipality of Ljusdal in Gävleborg.

– Our crews struggle and work all night long. We need more staff and equipment. There is a lack of everything, really, and the problem is that we have no staff to relieve the crews. Torbjörn Wannqvist, head of emergency preparedness in the municipality of Ljusdal, said Tuesday that some jobs are 24-hour guards.

The Government considers the situation extraordinary

– In general, we have a good rescue service and good preparation. However, this is an extreme situation. We need to strengthen relief services in the future, "Interior Minister Morgan Johansson told SVT.
