1 dead after oil tanker crash spilling fuel and causing major fire

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – One person was killed and a major fire broke out following an oil tanker crash on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said the driver of a large tanker lost control of the vehicle, causing an accident and a spill, which then caught fire.

It happened on I-595 in the Davie Blvd area.

Officials did not say if other vehicles were involved or if the reported fatality is the driver of the tanker.

All eastbound lanes of I-595 in the Davie Boulevard area. were closed, as was the southbound entrance ramp from the Florida Turnpike to I-595, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
