ANSE TOWNSHIP – One person has died after a single vehicle rollover accident in Baraga County over the weekend.

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Friday, soldiers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Station were dispatched to Dynamite Hill Road near Pinery Road in L’Anse Township to report a bodily injury.

According to a press release, the police investigation indicated that a vehicle driven by Kenneth Ripley, 44, of L’Anse, was traveling westbound on Dynamite Hill Road when he lost control of the vehicle and failed. was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle slid sideways into a ditch, where it overturned.

Ripley was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which caused him to be ejected from the vehicle, police said.

The accident is still under investigation.

Michigan State Police soldiers were assisted at the scene by the L’Anse Village Police Department, Bay Ambulance and Dynamite Towing.
