Hawaii Department of Health officials today reported one new coronavirus-related death and 66 coronavirus infections, bringing the state’s total since the start of the pandemic to 449 deaths and 28,145 cases.
No further information was immediately available regarding the latest death in Oahu.
The state’s official coronavirus death toll includes 357 deaths in Oahu, 53 on the island of Hawaii, 35 in Maui, one in Kauai, and three Hawaii residents who died out of state.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths in the United States today was over 531,000 and the number of infections nationwide is over 29 million.
The new statewide cases of infection today include 30 in Oahu, 20 in Maui, 15 in the island of Hawaii and one in Molokai, according to health officials. As a result of updated information, public health officials have removed two Oahu cases from the accounts.
Statistics released today reflect the new cases of infection reported to the department on Wednesday.

The total number of coronavirus cases per island since the start of the epidemic is 22,230 in Oahu, 2,403 in Maui, 2,317 in Hawaii County, 186 in Kauai, 108 in Lanai and 28 in Molokai. There are also 873 residents of Hawaii who have been diagnosed out of state.
Health officials also said today that of the state’s total infections, 689 cases were considered active. Officials say they view infections reported in the past 14 days as a “proxy number for active cases.” The number of active cases in the state has increased by 24 today.
Per island, Oahu has 351 active cases, Maui has 254, the Big Island has 80, Kauai has three, and Molokai has one. Lanai has no active cases.
Health officials counted 5,741 new COVID-19 test results in today’s tally, for a statewide positivity rate of 1.15%. The state’s 7-day average positivity rate is 1.2%, according to the Hawaii COVID-19 Data Dashboard.
Of all confirmed cases of infection in Hawaii, 1,922 have required hospitalizations, with eight new hospitalizations reported today by state health officials.
Eight hospitalizations statewide are residents of Hawaii who were diagnosed and treated out of state. Of the 1,914 hospitalizations in the state, 1,648 were in Oahu, 151 in Maui, 101 in Big Island, 8 in Kauai, 5 in Lanai and one in Molokai.
According to the latest information from the department’s Hawaii COVID-19 Data dashboard, a total of 27 patients infected with the virus were in hospitals in Hawaii as of Thursday morning, including four in intensive care units and four on ventilators.
The state’s COVID-19 vaccine summary in Hawaii today indicates that 447,917 vaccines have been administered out of the 572,230 received by the state. About 19% of the general population of Hawaii has received at least one dose of the vaccine. Of those who have received at least one dose of the vaccine to date, 51% are 59 years of age or younger, while 49% are 60 years or older.
Of the vaccines administered, 423,628 were given to the general public and 24,289 were distributed through the federal pharmacy program, officials said.
Oahu entered the less restrictive Level 3 of the city’s four-tier economic stimulus package on February 25 after being at Level 2 since October 22. 10 people at the table, compared to five now.
