DENVER (AP) – The latest news of a Colorado school shooting that killed one student and injured eight (all hours are local):

2:40 p.m.

Seven of eight students who were injured during a shootout at a school in the Denver suburbs were sent home by hospitals.

The Adventist Hospital in Littleton announced Friday that it was still treating a patient in good condition. The hospital released a second patient Friday and three more Tuesday, the day of the attack.

Sky Ridge Medical Center received two gunshot victims and both were released. Another was treated and released at the South Colorado Children's Hospital.

A ninth victim, Kendrick Castillo, an 18-year-old student, was killed during the attack at STEM School in Highlands Ranch. According to witnesses, Castillo was hit by a shot while attacking one of the two shooters.

Two teenage suspects were arrested for murder and attempted murder. Formal accusations are expected next week.

Charges at a school in a Denver suburb will not be charged until next week.

The suspects were scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon to find out the charges against them. However, the court spokesman, Rob McCallum, said prosecutors and the defense had agreed to postpone the hearing to Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for prosecutors, Vicki Migoya, could not comment on the delay. At the first hearings this week, prosecutors had asked to wait until Monday.

The authorities have identified the suspects regarding Devon Erickson, Alec McKinney, 18, aged 16, who is listed in court records as Maya.

One question they must decide is whether McKinney should be charged as an adult.

The two men were reported to have opened fire on Tuesday at STEM School Highlands Ranch.

The two suspects of a shooting in a school in a Denver suburb have to appear in court while prosecutors file a complaint for the attack that killed one student and injured eight others.

Prosecutors should also decide Friday to call the young suspect into adulthood.

Authorities identified the suspects as Devon Erickson, 18, and Maya McKinney, 16, whose lawyer said he used male pronouns and called Alec.

The two men reportedly opened fire at STEM School Highlands Ranch on Tuesday, a few miles from Columbine High School and a few weeks after the 20th anniversary of the massacre there.

The investigators did not discuss the reason for the shooting.

Witnesses testified that Kendrick Castillo, an 18-year-old student, was killed after firing shots at one of the shooters and stuck to the wall.
