YOUNGSTOWN – Penguin City Brewing Company continues to expand its distribution, this time to Mountain State.

The company last week delivered its first delivery of beer to Wine & Beverage Merchants of West Virginia in Weirton, W.Va., north of Steubenville across the Ohio River. The two companies finalized a contract earlier this year.

In April, the company, which is renovating a downtown warehouse into its new brewery and brewhouse, began distribution to five counties in western Pennsylvania.

Penguin City plans to expand its market in Ohio with the opening of the new facility later this year. The move to the former Republic warehouse, 460 E. Federal St., will allow the company to more than double its capacity, according to Penguin City.

The downtown investment is approximately $ 3.7 million, including $ 550,000 for new brewing equipment.

Penguin City already distributes to more than 450 locations in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys.
