The Mount Carmel Health System says the hospital is working with health officials to identify the source of the bacteria at the Grove City branch.

According to public health officials, the first patient in whom Legionnaires were diagnosed was admitted to the hospital on April 29, the day after it was opened.

The hospital said on Thursday that the water restrictions for floors 2 to 7 had been lifted following the implementation of several measures to combat the spread of Legionella. Because the incubation period of the disease can last up to 14 days, several diagnoses are possible.

People are infected with a serious form of pneumonia by inhalation of water droplets in the air containing Legionella bacteria.
