15 North Texas Family Receive COVID-19 After Some Attend Small Birthday Party

ARLINGTON, Texas – Tarrant County continues to report a high number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.

As of Sunday, more than 1,500 new cases were reported in Tarrant County.

A family in Arlington knows firsthand the effects of the speed at which the virus spreads.

A few days before Thanksgiving, the Aragonez family is sharing their message about the coronavirus before people decide to spend the holidays with groups of people.

The coronavirus pandemic has proven that a reunion, even if it’s just a close family, can immediately change lives.

The members of the Aragonez family in Arlington are no strangers to spending time together.

Earlier this month, 12 of them gathered to celebrate an anniversary.

“We don’t go to restaurants, we don’t really party,” said Alexa Aragonez. “We all go to work and go home and we thought that staying in our nuclear cell close to people would protect us, and it wasn’t.”

Alexa dropped off her 57-year-old mother with her cousin.

In less than three days, several people showed symptoms of COVID-19.

Ages ranging from 8 to 57 years old, 15 family members have tested positive.

Alexa’s mother had to go to the hospital. She was released on Thursday.

“Every time she went to the hospital it was devastating for all of us. We felt guilty for exposing her to the virus, ”Alexa said. “My mom is finally back home. Fortunately, she doesn’t need oxygen, but she still has pneumonia and chest pain. It still has no taste or smell.

Tarrant County has now reported a total of 81,600 cases of the coronavirus, and there are 765 people in county hospitals.

Critics of the virus continue to say that the vast majority of people recover after being infected.

While this is true, it does not lessen the severity of the virus for the thousands of families who have died in Texas.

“We know the survival rate is very high, but one life lost is one too many. And a lot of survivors have long-term complications that will affect them for the rest of their lives, ”Alexa explained.

With Thanksgiving days away, health officials want people to celebrate the holidays with only those who live in their homes.

“Maintain social distance. Use a mask that covers your nose and mouth. Wash your hands often. Please stay home. Please protect yourself, it’s real, ”said a health official.

For the North Texas region, nearly 14% of all hospital beds are occupied by people with COVID-19.
