Johnson & amp; Johnson releases vaccine trial results

TAMPA, Florida – The Florida Department of Health said the number of known cases of COVID-19 in the state increased by 15,019 as of Saturday. According to the daily state update, the total number of cases in Florida is now 1,713,589.
The death toll of Florida residents has reached 26,360, an increase of 106 since Friday’s update. In addition, a total of 435 non-Floridians have died in the state.
Locally, Hernando County reported four new deaths, Polk County reported three, and DeSoto and Highlands counties each reported one new death.
Of the 1,713,589 cases, 1,682,096 are Florida residents while 31,493 are not Florida residents in the state.

The state is not reporting a total number of “recovered” coronavirus patients. As of Saturday, 6,153 Floridians were currently hospitalized with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19, with a total of 72,135 people having been hospitalized for treatment at any given time.
Vaccination efforts continue statewide. Another 19,200 patients received their first dose of vaccine in Florida on Friday, for a total of 1,354,584. Meanwhile, an additional 12,824 people received their second and final dose, meaning that 296,782 people completed the vaccine. two cycles.

The number of new cases had generally declined in the fall, reflecting the number of tests administered. But it started to rise again.
The rate of re-positive tests declined from its summer peak, remaining below 10% for several months, but hit that point again during the holiday season and through 2021. It was at 6.62. % Friday, the latest available date.
After peaking in July, the number of deaths also began a downward trend in August that continued through November – although “significant delays” in reporting the data, as the state says, make the interpretation of short-term trends from this statistic less reliable. The 272 new deaths reported on Friday were the largest single-day increase in the pandemic.
