ST. LOUIS – According to the authorities, at least 16 people were killed during the weekend in 10 separate incidents in St. Louis, two of them deadly.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the victims include a woman who was killed in an alley Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, in a shooting, one person was killed and four others injured inside a van.
Police said two others had also been injured near a light rail station and that a 17-year-old man had been shot in the leg while he was playing basketball -ball. The police department has published little details about the shootings. A spokeswoman for the department said the officers would provide more information on Monday.
The shooting occurred on the same weekend when police chief John Hayden appeared at a crime prevention summit to say the crime was on the decline.
