EASTON, Pa .– An 18-year-old was stabbed in the West End of Easton late Monday night.

The victim told police he was walking on the sidewalk in the 500 block of Pearl Street, near North Locust Street and Prospect Avenue, around 10:45 p.m. when he was stabbed by a stranger, police said in a statement.

A woman was with the suspect, but the victim did not know either person, authorities said. The couple then fled on foot, heading northeast on Pearl Street toward Bushkill Street, police said.

The 18-year-old was taken to hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

Initial reports indicated that the victim was trying to stop the other man from attacking a woman, but police have not commented on this report.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a stocky build, no facial hair, young, and wearing a red sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. The female is described as a black or Hispanic woman with fair skin, young, short, of large build and wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, authorities said.
