2 driving COVID-19 vaccination sites opened in Broward County on Sunday

DAVIE, Florida. – People aged 65 and over in Broward County who were lucky enough to score a date began lining up early Sunday morning to get their COVID-19 vaccine.

Two drive-thru locations have opened where, from what Local 10 has learned, you go upstairs, roll down your window, pull out your arm to get the vaccine, and make an appointment for the second dose in three weeks .

Walk through the sites open on Sunday, by appointment only, understand:

>Tradewinds Park, 3600 West Sample Road, Coconut Creek. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

>Vista View Park, Southwest 142nd Avenue, Davie. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

On Tuesday, driving vaccinations will start at:

>Markham Park, 160001 West State Road 84, Sunrise. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, closed Friday and Saturday.

People are warned not to show up on the sites unless they have an appointment. Those who did not have an appointment on Sunday morning were turned away.

It has been difficult for the elderly to secure a spot despite the arrival of tens of thousands of additional vaccines in South Florida.

By Sunday morning, the Broward County Florida Department of Health website for making an appointment was finally back up and running after being down for several days, but at 9:30 a.m. it was offline again with a message. who said, “We sincerely apologize. This site has been removed for maintenance in order to serve you better. Thank you.”
