Sonora, California – Tuolumne Public Health has identified 20 new cases today and they say all of them appear to be isolating themselves at home. Cases include one woman and no man under 20, 3 women and 2 men in their twenties, one woman in their thirties, 3 women and 2 men in their 40s, 3 men in their fifties, one woman and 2 men in their 60s, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her 80s.
Tuolumne County Public Health released information stating, “In the past two weeks, California has seen an 89% increase in COVID-related hospitalizations and a 67% increase in COVID intensive care admissions. Each bed occupied by a COVID patient is one less bed available for heart attack, car accident, stroke, emergency. Stay alert – take COVID advice, recreate responsibly, rest when you are sick. We can’t prevent every accident or medical need, but we can all do our part to stay as safe as possible.
The Mariposa County Public Health Department released information saying, “We need to adjust our actions to slow this surge.” In the San Joaquin Valley, 63% of hospital beds and 78% of intensive care beds are currently occupied. Projections suggest that by Christmas Eve 83% of hospital beds will be occupied and intensive care capacity will reach 120%.
Eight previously isolated cases in Tuolumne County have been released from isolation today. Four hospitalized people were released and another previously cured case was readmitted to hospital for worsening symptoms, a total of 12 are currently hospitalized. There are 213 active cases, 818 cured and 1,055 in total. Total Known Tests 16,994.
The COVID-19 call center is open during regular business hours and people with questions or concerns can call 209-533-7440 for more information. People who are concerned about the onset or worsening of symptoms can also call the Adventist Health Sonora COVID-19 triage line at 209-536-5166 to speak with a nurse or other clinician.

Public health says it’s important for people to continue to follow prevention guidelines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
