Nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are led by several heavy hitters this year.
Jay-Z, Tina Turner, Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden head the 36th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination. The list of female nominations also includes Dionne Warwick, Mary J. Blige and the Go-Go’s.
Go-Go bassist Kathy Valentine welcomed her appointment on Wednesday, Tweeter, “Wonderful news to wake up and find out that @officialgogos is nominated at @rockhall.”
“~ Thanks to our amazing fans and advocates. Go-Go’s are the real thing straight from LA clubs to the top, self-taught and powered. Rock on sisters,” she continued.

To become eligible for a Hall of Fame nomination, artists must be at least 25 years old from the release of their first official recording. This is the case of rapper Jay-Z, who released “Reasonable Doubt” in 1996; and Foo Fighters with their eponymous debut in 1995.

“This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates,” Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation President John Sykes said Wednesday. “These nominees left an indelible impact on the soundscape of the world and influenced countless artists who followed them.”

Other nominees announced include Rage Against the Machine, LL Cool J, Todd Rundgren, New York Dolls, Devo, Kate Bush and Chaka Khan.
The 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class will be announced in May. The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held in Cleveland, Ohio this fall.
Fans can vote for up to five nominees per day by April 30.
