Nevada on Wednesday reported 659 more cases of coronavirus and 23 deaths in the previous day.
Updated figures from the Department of Health and Human Services posted on the state’s coronavirus website brought the cumulative totals to 285,795 cases and 4,582 deaths.
The new cases were slightly above the 14-day moving average of 650 cases recorded daily. The deaths, however, remained above the daily moving average of 15 for the two-week period, according to state data.
The state’s positivity rate, which essentially tracks the percentage of people tested for COVID-19 with confirmed infection, fell to 14.8% – a decrease of 0.5 percentage point from the previous day . The rate has been falling steadily from its peak of 21.7% on January 13.

As of Wednesday, 922 people in Nevada were hospitalized with suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19, 49 fewer than the day before, according to state data. The data can fluctuate from day to day, but state officials have reported that total hospitalizations have declined in recent weeks, particularly in the northern region of the state.
Clark County reported 602 new coronavirus cases and 16 additional deaths on Wednesday, according to data published on the Southern Nevada Health District coronavirus website.
The updated figures brought the cumulative totals for the county to 220,204 cases and 3,525 deaths.
The county’s two-week positivity rate on Wednesday fell 0.5 percentage points from the previous day to 16.2%, 1.4 percentage points above the state rate.
