The Oregon State Beavers wasted no time trying to turn their 41-38 victory over the Oregon No.15 Ducks into recruiting momentum.
Dozens of prospects from the Class of 2022 have confirmed that Oregon state’s coaching staff have worked hard to quickly gain traction with top prospects.
One of the key positions that all college football staff focus on is quarterback.
And the beavers are in the thick of it for a big caller in 2022.
Four-star sports quarterback Justyn Martin, the nation’s No.8 pro-style quarterback, watched the Oregon State-Oregon game and followed it on a virtual tour with the Beavers.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound athlete, from Inglewood High School (Inglewood, Calif.), Said he had seen enough of it already to consider the state of Oregon a real candidate in his recruiting .
“Right now they’re in a rush in my recruiting,” Martin said. “With everything closed, they were actually one of the first schools to offer me a virtual tour. They take more action than other schools, so they’re in the top five to seven right now. They are up there. We can’t go anywhere right now or watch these games, but they are taking action to recruit me. But the most recent team to impress Martin was Oregon State after coach Jonathan Smith won.
“I loved it,” he says. “It really upset them with me. Number one, they beat Oregon, and everyone knows they’re not a successful school. Second, they were down and they played like they won the whole game. Their defense had an energy. As for the crunch time, (Tristan) Gebbia was doing good and putting his team in a position to win. While Martin had already scheduled his virtual tour with Oregon State ahead of the win, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect, building on his already growing interest.
“It was an incredible visit,” he said. “I really liked it because – Firstly, I already had a connection with the staff, so all the guys who guided me through the tour, basically I already know that. It wasn’t really an introduction. I’ve been there before. It was more elaborate than the last visit. They told me about things I didn’t know – “beyond football” operations. Martin is still early in recruiting and he’s in no rush to make a decision, especially with the unofficial and official visits banned by the NCAA until April, but the state of Oregon has fallen. firmly placed in the mix to land one of the best quarterbacks in the country in 2022. cycle.
