21 new virus deaths in El Paso as number of active cases declines

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – The death toll from Covid-19 in El Paso rose by 21 Thursday morning, while the number of active cases continued to decline.

The latest victims include:

  • 3 men in their forties
  • 1 man in his fifties
  • 3 men in their sixties
  • 1 woman in her sixties
  • 3 men in their 70s
  • 2 women in their sixties
  • 5 men in the 80s
  • 2 women in their 80s
  • 1 woman in her 90s

Since the start of the pandemic, 1,269 people have died from the virus in El Paso County. There are also 567 presumed deaths from Covid-19 currently under investigation by local health authorities.

Hospitalizations remained at 565 Thursday. The number of intensive care patients has also increased from 202 to 211.

There were 36,377 known active cases in El Paso as of Thursday, the fewest since November 23.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 94,240 confirmed cases in El Paso, with 55,995 reported recoveries. Doctors warn that some recovered people may still have lingering health problems as a result of being infected.
