The latest figures show 290 people who tested positive for the coronavirus have died in hospitals in the Northeast so far in February.
According to data released by NHS England on Sunday, the highest number of deaths has been in South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust hospitals, with a figure of 84.
Trust sites include South Tyneside District Hospital and Sunderland Royal Hospital.
This was followed by 75 deaths in the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, which includes the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, and 65 in County Durham and the Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
The figures cover a period between February 1 and February 20, and NHS England says patients who died in hospital have tested positive for Covid-19.
All deaths are recorded against the date of death rather than the day the death was announced.
The organization also said the numbers could change, particularly in the last few days, as confirmation of a greater number of deaths could be received at a later stage. The figures for each NHS trust for February so far can be seen below.
Nationwide, another 258 people who tested positive for the coronavirus died in hospitals in England on Sunday, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 81,304, NHS England said.
The patients were between 29 and 101 years old. All but 17, aged 52 to 100, had known underlying health issues. The deaths took place between December 10 and February 20. There have been 31 other deaths reported without a positive Covid-19 test result.
