3 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Butte County, Enloe sees ‘increase’ in cases

BUTTE COUNTY, California – Butte County Public Health reported three new deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The three new deaths bring the total of COVID-19 deaths in Butte County to 208.

Lisa Almaguer, public health communications manager for Butte County, said one death was in the 65 to 74 age group and two deaths were in the over 75 age group. It is not known whether these people have been vaccinated or not.

Almaguer said 48.1% of residents of Butte County eligible for the vaccine are fully immunized.

The Public Health Dashboard also reported 115 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases in Butte County to 15,076 cases.

Enloe Medical Center said it was seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases.

On Tuesday, the hospital said it had 43 COVID-19 patients, six of them are in intensive care and four are on ventilators.

39 of the 43 COVID-19 patients at Enloe Medical Center are unvaccinated and four are vaccinated. The hospital said a year ago that it has an average of around 18 COVID-19 patients.

Enloe said that one in five patients has COVID-19 and that 86% of people with the virus are not vaccinated.

Tehama and Shasta counties also reported one new death from COVID-19 on Tuesday.

On August 17, Butte County Public Health reported three deaths.
