Tuolumne Public Health reports three new deaths from COVID-19 of people recently hospitalized; a man in his sixties, a woman in his sixties and a man in his sixties.
Public health is reporting 96 new cases in the community, including two new cases of Sierra Conservation Center inmates since Friday. There are 407 active community cases of which 18 are now hospitalized. Acting health worker Dr Eric Sergienko noted on Friday that modeling from the state indicates numbers will likely continue to rise in the Mother Lode area until some time between August 20 and 22. , and then hopefully begin to stabilize, as shown here.
Calaveras County Public Health reports three new deaths from COVID-19, no further details are available. The county has a total of 61 Covid deaths since the start of the pandemic. The last two Covid deaths were reported last month, July 16. Calaveras is also reporting 19 new cases of Covid since Friday, 139 active cases and two active hospitalizations. Four of the cases are aged 0 to 17 and there are four new cases in people 65 and over. Since the start of the pandemic, they have had 286 Covid-19 positive people aged 17 and under and 501 Covid-19 positive people aged 65 and over. Calaveras’ highest active cases peaked at 123 during the first wave of COVID-19 in December / January.
Tuolumne test The state testing site, currently at Tuolumne Memorial Hall, is open 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Results via the LHI State test site are spinning fast right now, currently between 24 and 48 hours. This Wednesday August 18e the test site will return to the Mother Lode Exhibition Center in Sonora and open at 10 a.m. that day. Then, the site will be open every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Due to increased demand, appointments must be made rather than travel. The test is also available through Rapid Care or the hospital emergency department if you have symptoms, or contact your health care provider.

Anyone 12 years of age and older is eligible for the COVID vaccine, Pfizer is approved for anyone over 12 years of age. The Tuolumne report continues The current total case rate, a 14-day moving average for Tuolumne County, is 51.4 per 100,000 population. The case rate for those vaccinated is 13.9 and for the unvaccinated is 83.6.
The breakdown by sex and age for the 94 community cases is as follows: 3 girls and 7 boys aged 0-11, 6 girls and 7 boys aged 12-17, 8 women and 8 men aged 18-29, 6 women and 7 men aged 30-39, 7 women and 3 men aged 40-49, 9 women and 4 men aged 50-59, 2 women and 9 men aged 60-69, 2 women and 3 men aged 70 at 79 and 3 women aged 80-89.
Thirteen of the new cases were vaccinated, 11 with Moderna and 2 with Pfizer. Out of 909 cases, since June 15, when the first vaccinated individual was reported to have a Covid infection, 92 in total have been identified.
A total of 22,157 inhabitants of Tuolumne are fully vaccinated and 3,763 are partially vaccinated. The vaccination rate is 52% of those eligible for Tuolumne, those aged 12 and over.
The California Department of Corrections reports 40 active cases to the Sierra Conservation Center (SCC). A total of 68% of the 3,260 inmates managed by the prison, which includes all the southern fire camps, are fully vaccinated and 1,524 inmate cases have been resolved. There have been no deaths of CSC detainees due to Coivd-19.

Calaveras Public Health shares “The best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19 is to: get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as you can, wear a face mask that covers your nose and mouth to protect yourself and protect others, Stay 6 feet from other people who do not live with you, avoid crowds and poorly ventilated indoor spaces, wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use disinfectant for hands with alcohol to get rid of germs on your hands. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms of COVID-19 include:
Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body pain, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, Diarrhea. Look for emergency warning signs for COVID-19. If anyone shows signs, see an emergency immediately: Difficulty breathing, New confusion or weakness, Bluish lips or face, Persistent pain or pressure in the chest, Inability to wake up or stay awake.
