3 new deaths from El Paso virus as pandemic death toll reaches 1,582

EL PASO, Texas – Health officials reported three more coronavirus deaths on Sunday morning, bringing the death toll in the El Paso County pandemic to 1,582.

The latest victims were two men in their sixties and a woman in their sixties.

That number of deaths will continue to rise as more than 500 probable virus deaths are currently listed as under investigation. Once officials confirm the cause of death as Covid-19, these people are officially added to the tally.

Meanwhile, 365 other infections were also reported on Sunday, with a total of 35,467 active cases.

In hospitals in El Paso, officials said 447 Covid-19 patients were being treated on Sunday morning. Of these, 152 were listed in intensive care while 100 remained on ventilators.

The cumulative number of El Paso virus cases stands at 106,667, with health officials estimating 69,048 recoveries. However, doctors warn that some recovered people may still experience ongoing health problems from an infection.
