300 new cases of coronavirus, 9 new deaths

Maine (WABI) -300 new cases of coronavirus in Maine and 9 new deaths. These numbers reflect data collected by the Maine CDC since Tuesday.

But a spokesperson for the Maine CDC said the data was not complete as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. We are told that staff performed an overnight computer systems upgrade, so any case data processed by 11:59 p.m. on October 5, 2021 was not included in the October 6, 2021 update.

The numbers will be updated when the systems upgrade is complete.

Among the deaths reported Wednesday, three are from Penobscot, three more from Somerset and one each from Cumberland, Franklin and Piscataquis counties.

Penobscot County has 49 more cases on Wednesday, with Kennebec registering 47.

21 in Hancock County, 6 in Washington County and Waldo has 0 new cases.

65.53% of Mainers are now fully vaccinated against COVID according to the state’s vaccination dashboard.

5,275 doses of vaccination have been administered since Tuesday. Of these, 3,343 were booster shots.

Latest report, 192 people have been hospitalized with the virus, the first time in several weeks that the number has fallen below 200.

54 are in intensive care and 20 are on a ventilator.
