7-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers to host Kansas City 9-1 Chiefs in week 12 at Raymond James Stadium.
Tom Brady and the Buccaneers just lost a week 11 against the Los Angeles Rams at home on Monday Night Football. Tampa Bay lost by a final score of 27-24 with Brady throwing two touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss.
The Chiefs, meanwhile, took care of the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11 of Sunday Night Football, 35-31. Patrick Mahomes threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce with 28 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lead the Chiefs to victory.
There’s still plenty of football to play, but it looks like Kansas City could repeat as the Super Bowl champion with Mahomes in the lead.
Brady is the last quarterback to win back-to-back Super Bowls. He won Super Bowls 38 and 39 with the New England Patriots. While Brady is universally recognized as the greatest shooter in NFL history, Mahomes could one day overtake him if he is able to win multiple Super Bowls with the Chiefs.
With the Buccaneers-Chiefs game almost upon us, let’s take a look at four bold predictions for the contest from a Tampa Bay perspective.
1. Tom Brady throws two touchdowns, one interception
In his first season with the Buccaneers, Brady rushed for 2,955 passing yards and threw 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The six-time Super Bowl champion completes 64.7% of his passes, but he has five interceptions in his last three games.
The Chiefs are dropping 21.4 points per game this season, while the Buccaneers are scoring 23.0. Brady threw two touchdowns and one interception against Kansas City in Week 12. The Chiefs have 10 interceptions this season, led by Daniel Sorensen’s three. Kansas City has also forced a roll in every game this season, with the exception of Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers.
Brady has struggled to throw the ball deep this season. We can see the Hall of Famer’s future interception against the Chiefs on a long passing attempt, but overall Brady should have some solid play for his fantastic owners.
2. Mike Evans 100 yards, scores a touchdown
One of the NFL’s top leavers, Mike Evans is enjoying another stellar season for the Buccaneers. The triple Pro Bowler has 45 receptions for 563 yards and nine touchdowns. Evans has caught a touchdown pass in all but three games this season.
Against the Chiefs we’ve got Evans recording his third 100-yard receiving game of the season and catching a touchdown pass from Brady as well. The last time he faced Kansas City, Evans made 106 yards on six catches in 2016.
To defeat the Chiefs, you must win a shootout since Mahomes and Co. are so elitist on offense. That being said, look for Brady and Evans to hook up on a few Week 12 homers and show the rest of the league that the Buccaneers are an offense against defenses that shouldn’t sleep.
3. The Buccaneers’ defense fights mightily against Patrick Mahomes
Mahomes is football’s best quarterback and it’s not even close. Even though the Buccaneers are giving up just 23.0 points per game, they’re set to face the No.1 offense in the league.
Behind Mahomes, the Chiefs are averaging 32.1 points per game. The former MVP has posted 3,035 yards and 27 touchdowns in 10 games this season while completing 67.9% of his passes. The weapons Mahomes has to work with are simply unfair, as Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Sammy Watkins, Le’Veon Bell, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are all elite playmakers.
We expect the Buccaneers to fight Mahomes and Co. Tampa Bay fans are hoping this game won’t be a repeat of Week 9 when the New Orleans Saints came to town and blew the Buccaneers by a score. final of 38-3. Drew Brees cut out the Buccaneers that night and Mahomes is playing out of his mind right now.
That being said, the Tampa Bay defense is likely to last for a long day in Week 12.
4. The buccaneers lose to the Chiefs to drop to 7-5
We have the Buccaneers losing to the Chiefs in Week 12 and dropping to 7-5 this season. It looks like the Saints will win the NFC South since they swept the season series against Tampa Bay and are 8-2 heading into their Week 12 game against the Denver Broncos.
That being said, the Buccaneers are going to need to nab a spot for the Wild Card to qualify for the playoffs in the first year of the Brady Era.
Since he’s the GOAT, we wouldn’t be shocked if Brady leads Tampa Bay to an upset victory over the Chiefs. However, the Chiefs will likely win this game in Florida as their offense is just too much to contain for four quarters.
