4 new deaths from COVID-19 in Calaveras, 69 new cases in Tuolumne 38 Calaveras

Calaveras County Public Health reports four new deaths from COVID-19, three men one in their thirties, one in their sixties and one in their sixties, and one woman in her sixties. The county has 71 total deaths attributed to COVID-19. There are 38 new Covid cases since Friday’s report, active cases have risen to 79 from last week’s highest number of active Covid cases, 125. Active cases include 4 current Covid hospitalizations. There are 13 new cases aged 0 to 17 and 4 new cases in people aged 65 or over. Since the start of the pandemic, Calaveras has had 496 Covid-19 positive people aged 17 and under and 586 Covid-19 positive people aged 65 and over. Calaveras vaccinated 52.1% of its eligible population.

Tuolumne Public Health reports 69 new cases of COVID-19 since yesterday’s report, including a new case at the Sierra Conservation Center. There are 188 active cases of which 15 are hospitalized. The current total case rate, a 14-day average for Tuolumne County, is down to 46.3 per 100,000 population from 49.5 on Friday. A total of 4,380 have been released from solitary confinement after testing positive for COVID-19, there have been 99 deaths and 1,620 inmate cases, and 6,287 cases in total with 55% of Tuolumne’s eligible population vaccinated.

New cases reported today include 15 cases aged 17 or younger and 17 cases aged 60 and older. The breakdown by sex and age is; 7 girls and 1 boy from 0 to 11 years old, 5 girls and 2 boys from 12 to 17 years old, 5 women and 7 men from 18 to 29 years old, 8 women and 2 men from 30 to 39 years old, 8 women from 40 to 49 years, 3 women and 4 men aged 50 to 59, 5 women and 5 men aged 60 to 69, 1 woman and 4 men aged 70 to 79, 1 woman 80 to 89 and 1 woman 90 years or older .

Of the 69 new community cases, 58 were not vaccinated and 11 were vaccinated. The California Department of Corrections reports 4 active cases among inmates supervised by the Sierra Conservation Center, which includes all Southern Conservation Fire Camps. There are six correctional facilities in the state that handle more active inmate cases.

COVID-19 test The Tuolumne County state testing site at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds added an additional testing lane on Sunday to increase the number of available appointments. If you think you have been exposed to COVID, make an appointment to be tested 5 days after exposure. If you have any symptoms, please get tested immediately. The state test site is open 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mother Lode Exhibition Center. Appointments should be made rather than traveling. Appointments can be scheduled at www.lhi.care/covidtesting or by calling 888-634-1123. The test is also available at some pharmacies, Rapid Care, or the hospital emergency department if you have symptoms, or contact your health care provider.

Vaccines against covid-19 Appointments for vaccines can be made at local pharmacies and at myturn.ca.gov or by calling 833-422-4255. Anyone 12 years of age and older is eligible for a COVID vaccine, Pfizer is approved for anyone 12 years of age or older. As detailed here, healthcare workers should be vaccinated by September 30. The Pfizer vaccine requires 3 weeks between doses and Moderna requires 4 weeks. The J&J vaccine only requires one dose.
