COLUMBUS, Ohio – Hundreds of workers are trying to determine their next step after the brutal closure of a Kroger bakery in Ohio, which cut 411 jobs.
The grocery chain said that workers would be paid 60 days before the payment of severance pay based on the number of years of service, in accordance with a collective agreement. The company encourages workers to apply for jobs in other Kroger facilities.
Chase Ragland worked at the bakery for nearly seven years. He tells Columbus Dispatch that he is looking for another job while hoping to go back to school to get a degree in physiotherapy.
