(ABC NEWS) – Five Californian teenagers focused on a totally different definition of the word "sweep" as they used Tinder to steal and carjacker unsuspecting men on dates.
At least 11 men have been targeted by a group of five teenagers, including a minor, arrested for a series of armed robberies in San José, police said on Thursday.
The group used the Tinder dating app to arrange appointments with men, then rob them of the victims when they were preparing to have a good evening.
"Tinder's fraudulent user, with the names of" Becky "or" Victoria "profiles, has set a date and place to meet male victims," San Jose police said in a statement. "The times and places were generally late-night in isolated streets near a park.When the victim arrived at the scene, she was beaten, robbed and fired at the tip of the gun by several suspects hidden. "

Bryan Gonzalez, 19; Jonathan Jimenez, 18 years old; Lesly Portillo, 18 years old; Yadira Villarreal, 19 years old; and an unidentified 15-year-old boy was arrested for the armed robbery that took place from March 16 to 29.
All five are from San Jose. The four adults are incarcerated in the Santa Clara County Jail, while the juveniles are incarcerated in the Santa Clara County Miners' Palace.
The charges against the five people include robbery, carjacking, car theft and a hit and run, according to San Jose police.
Police used surveillance footage to identify one of the suspects, resulting in an interruption of the case, according to San Francisco's ABC station, KGO.
Tinder warns users to meet for the first time in "a populated public place – never in a private or remote location" and to "know users online / using the app before meeting them in person".
