Syracuse, New York – Onondaga County confirmed 67 new cases of coronavirus on the last day, announced the results of its Covid-19 application task force, and opened a new testing site.

Of those 67 cases, 45 were from community spread, County Manager Ryan McMahon tweeted on Sunday afternoon. Of these 45, 18 were from a known source. Thirteen others were contracted among household members, five were from travel and four are still being researched.

Seven cases have been traced to K-12 schools in the county and four have been traced to colleges and universities.

The 67 new cases are down from the 71 new cases announced on Saturday and the 99 new cases announced on Friday, a single-day record.

McMahon said on Saturday the county would send a law enforcement team this weekend to bars, restaurants and private gatherings to crack down on large gatherings or people who don’t wear masks.

The task force visited 25 companies on Saturday evening and found only one violator, fined.

McMahon tweeted that the county is opening a test site at Shed F in the CNY Regional Market. Anyone with symptoms of Covid-19 can be tested there from Tuesday, with results likely available within 24 to 36 hours. The test site, located at 2100 Park St. in Syracuse, will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The county’s seven-day average of positive coronavirus tests is 1.57%.

There are currently 23 people hospitalized with Covid-19 in Onondaga County, including four people in intensive care.

There have been no new deaths from Covid-19 since Thursday. A total of 212 county residents have died from the virus since the pandemic began in March.
