7-day positivity rate remains below 30% in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisconsin – The positive percentage of new COVID-19 tests remained below 30% on Monday, according to the State Department of Health Services.

After dropping to the lowest level in weeks, the seven-day test positivity rate per person declined slightly to 29.3% on Monday. The equivalent of seven days for the total number of tests per day also saw a slight decrease to 13.3%. Although both percentages have declined, positivity rates remain relatively high compared to the first months of the pandemic.

State and county health officials recorded 3,099 * new cases of the virus, bringing the state’s lifetime total to 358,103 *. DHS officials said more than 74,000 cases, or 20.8% of those cases, remained active.

Another ten people have died, bringing the statewide death toll to 3,071 *. DHS officials said 107 people were also hospitalized in the last day. With 11,223 hospital beds statewide, 15% of beds remain available for new patients.

A complaint filed in the Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday challenged the Dane County Public Health Order, which bans gatherings inside.
