80 new cases of COVID-19, 2 deaths reported Saturday in North Dakota

Cass County of Fargo reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. Minot’s Ward County and Bismarck’s Burleigh County added 15 and 14 new cases, respectively.

Grand Forks County, Morton County of Mandan and Williams County of Williston each reported six new cases.

Adams, Barnes, Bowman, McHenry, Mountrail, Oliver, Pembina, Ramsey, Rolette, Stark and Stutsman counties have all reported three or fewer new cases.

The new cases are the result of 4,060 tests for a daily positivity rate of 2.5%.

The department also reported two deaths linked to COVID-19. The deaths pushed the state’s death toll from the virus to 1,428. Of those who tested positive for COVID-19 in the state, 1.5% have died.

Active cases continued to decline, dropping to 844 on Saturday. Active cases fell to triple digits last week, marking the first time active cases have hovered below 1,000 since late July.

Burleigh County led the state with 134 active cases on Saturday, a slight increase from last week’s figure.

Active cases in Cass County have fallen 37% over the past week, from 198 to 125.

Ward County and Grand Forks County totaled 85 and 78 active cases, respectively, on Saturday. Williams County had 68 active cases, while Morton County had 54.

With 66 active cases per 10,000 population, Eddy County again leads the state in active cases per capita. Thirteen counties in North Dakota had no active cases on Saturday.

Thirty-six North Dakotans are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19.

Nationwide, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has documented 26,653,558 cases of the virus and 457,762 virus-related deaths. The CDC also reported that 39 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
