9 new COVID-19 deaths, 5,777 new cases

The Minnesota Department of Health reported on Wednesday:


  • Nine new deaths from COVID-19 *
  • 5,777 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests *

* Data released on Wednesday, September 8 includes data from 4 a.m. on Friday, September 3 to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7.

Additionally, MDH said:

  • More than 6.25 million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered
  • More than 3.14 million people have completed the vaccine series
  • 72.2% of those aged 16 and over received at least one dose of the vaccine

Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Wednesday that 81 counties in Minnesota remained at a high level of community transmission of COVID-19. Six other counties are considered to have a substantial gap.
