"We take food safety very seriously and immediately shut down the restaurant and put in place a thorough cleaning process," spokesperson Alison Glenn said in an email. "We worked closely with the Delaware Public Health Division and the restaurant reopened to the public yesterday."

Hepatitis A is a viral infection that affects the liver. It spreads when a person unknowingly ingests the virus from objects, food or drink contaminated with small undetected amounts of stool from an infected person.

The virus can spread in a restaurant when an infected person does not wash his / her hands enough after using the toilet, preparing food or sharing utensils with others while eating.

If someone develops these symptoms, he must stay at home and contact his doctor, said public health officials.
