The city's health council voted unanimously on Wednesday to extend the resolution demanding that adults and children living in Williamsburg receive the MMR vaccine.

Last Tuesday, the New York City Department of Health ordered all adults and children living under postal codes 11249, 11211, 11206 and 11205 to be vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella.

As of April 15, 329 measles cases have been confirmed in Brooklyn and Queens.

The city reported that these cases mainly involved members of the Orthodox Jewish community and that most cases involved children aged 1 to 4 years.

The order is part of the declared public health emergency. Health Commissioner Dr. Oxiris Bardot said she hoped it would help eradicate measles again.
