Detroit – Health officials report three more cases of measles in the Detroit area and say one of the people may have exposed others in central and western Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced Wednesday that new cases of this highly contagious disease were in Oakland County and Detroit, bringing the total number of cases for the state to 43. 2019.

The new cases presented possible exposure sites in recent days at a gas station in Lansing, a hotel and emergency site in Grand Rapids, Oak Park and a BP gas station on Ecorse Road in Ypsilanti.

Health officials urge people to get vaccinated if they have not received the vaccine before. The number of cases in Michigan is the highest in 65 years in 1991.
