Smoking marijuana could motivate people to go to the gym, according to a new study.

Researchers at the University of Colorado at Boulder said they interviewed more than 600 people and found that those who smoke before or after hitting the gym, or both, reported having worked more.

Some even said that it helped to recover minor pains.

Although only a few said it really improved the way they did their training.

The researchers said that sedentary users of cannabis could even benefit from the combination of marijuana and exercise.

Especially if they avoid the gym because of problems with recovery, motivation or pleasure.

They also said that if people combined the two, they should choose what they called low risk exercise options.

The survey was announced on Facebook and targeted users 21 years of age and older and residing in states where the use of marijuana for recreational purposes is legal.
