SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) – A baby under the age of one has caught measles in the second confirmed case of the disease in Orange County in 2019, health officials said.

The child, who is too young to have been vaccinated, remained hospitalized on Saturday, the Orange County Health Care Agency announced in a statement, stating that the child was not going to be vaccinated. Had no history of traveling abroad.

The young patient was admitted to the emergency department of the Children's Hospital of Orange County while it was contagious, said the HCA. According to the agency, other people may have been exposed to measles in this area of ​​the medical center at these times:

Also on Saturday, the Long Beach Department of Health and Social Services confirmed a case of measles with a resident of Long Beach. This patient was described as a vaccinated student at UC Irvine who did not travel abroad.

The student was recovering at home after visiting several localities in Orange and Los Angeles counties while it was contagious, health officials said. The HCA has published a list of sites where people might have been exposed to the viral disease:
