BERLIN (AP) – Police say two lions attacked and seriously injured a guard at a zoo in northern Germany.
The DPA news agency quoted a police spokesman in Walsrode, about 80 km south of Hamburg, saying the experienced goalkeeper had entered the lion's enclosure on Saturday morning.
The other wardens of Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen noticed the attack and managed to put their 24-year-old colleague in safety.
The guard, whose injuries were not life threatening, was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

The mountain lion also known as Puma or Cougar. Like almost all cats, the cougar is solitary and, with the exception of brief mating couples, only mothers and kittens live in groups. It is a secret animal, more active towards dawn and dusk. Studies show that the cat prefers dense scrub, but it can live with little vegetation in open areas.
