The more I lost weight, the more energy I had and the more I wanted to test this new body. I played more hockey, I fell in love with the hike and I started to lift. The more I worked, the more I wanted to make sure these workouts meant something, so I did not want to eat those calories burned.
The biggest surprise for me is how much energy I have and how I can do things physically that I never thought I could do. Even something as simple as doing push-ups was part of the list of things I did not think I could do, but now I can achieve them. I can go out and run a 5k at will. I can play hockey for two hours or more in a row. For me, none of this was possible.
I try to stay active six to seven days a week, usually getting at least two nights of hockey and three days of strength training. Add to this a hike and a day of yoga / stretching. Every day, there is always something in my schedule. Through all this activity, I can actually eat more than 3,000 calories a day, which is a strange transition after focusing on a 2,000 calorie diet for so long.

I have two main strategies that I try to adhere to every day. First, I always try to follow a philosophy of "No Zero Days" with nutrition and fitness. I would be lying if I said that I did not have days where I did not want to train or that I just wanted to gorge myself like crazy, but what I'm trying always to do each day is to make at least one positive step towards my goal. For example, if you do not want to train? Do it for five minutes, then you can stop. Most people will not stop smoking after the blood starts to pump during these five minutes.
Second, incorporate calorie tracking into your routine. This may be overwhelming at first, but one practice that has helped me through the process is to plan my meals for the next day, the night before.
