Men with prostate cancer have offered hope through a "search and destroy" treatment

TThe innovative technique is only starting to be privately offered in the United Kingdom, but more widely in Australia and Germany.

This includes up to six treatments, every six to eight weeks, at a cost of around £ 12,000 each in the UK.

Experts hope that it will be rolled out on the NHS if the third stage trials prove fruitful.

Dr. Matthew Hobbs, of Prostate Cancer UK, said he was "delighted" to see the results of the test.

"The idea is that by precisely targeting radiation to cancer cells, they will be destroyed wherever they are in the body, but will only cause minimal damage to healthy tissue," he said.
