Houston Rockets and Mike D's Antoni have resumed talks on an extension of the main coach's contract and are on the verge of reaching an agreement, sources told ESPN on Saturday.

Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta agreed to eliminate the redemption language, the main reason why Antoni and his agent, Warren LeGarie, ended negotiations on May 30, sources said.

Fertitta and Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey visited Antoni this week at his home in West Virginia, regardless of the season. LeGarie was not part of these discussions and told ESPN that an agreement still had to be found through him.

"Did Mike talk to those guys over there? Yes, he did," LeGarie told ESPN. "As always, they asked Mike what he thought, and Mike said," Sounds great, but talk to Warren. "Mike is a coach and he lets me negotiate.

"Mike is always friendly to everyone, not trying to increase resentment in a situation that has clearly gone astray."

After the end of the previous talks, Fertitta told reporters, at a hastily held press conference, that the offer to Antoni was a one – year extension with a base salary of $ 5 million and incentives of $ 4 million to advance the series.

However, the original offer provided only $ 2.5 million in guaranteed money, due to a buyout in case the Rockets would dismiss D & # 39; Antoni before the end of the season, or if they did not participate not in the playoffs and put an end to his activities after the season.

D'Antoni, under contract for the 2019-2020 season, has a record of 173-73 in three seasons with the Rockets. Houston is 23-16 in the playoffs during this period, losing to the Golden State Warriors in the past two seasons.
