Update:
(WSYR-TV) – This is the first time Kristin Crossland and her team have been camping in Green Lakes since she was diagnosed with Lyme disease two years ago.
"I would say my limit is my phobia, because once you're in pain, you start to feel, you know, maybe I should not go camping," she said.
Kristin never had an arm wound or any visible symptoms, mainly body aches and pains.
It was a different story for his partner, Matt, who also has Lyme disease. He did, however, find a tick and a pass.
Both are particularly cautious in the woods this weekend. They receive a special spray from their doctor and often look for ticks.
"Look for any type of small black dot, make sure it's not a tick … they are very small," Liberty said.
The rest of their group learns about the couple and takes extra security measures.
"It changed my way of looking at ticks and being cautious," said AJ Johnson.
And if you see a tick, do not ignore it.
"If I had my antibiotics right now, I might not have it, I'm really considered a person with chronic Lyme disease and you know I'm over two years and I'm still getting treatments, "said Kristin. "You still do not want to limit your lifestyle. There is a lot of beauty there, but you know, be prepared. "
