COUNTY OKALOOSA, FL (WJHG / WECP) – A man who lit firecrackers and threw them under the bed of a sleeping child called it a "farce that went wrong".
According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, MPs responded to the Godfrey Street call Saturday morning.
They say that Matthew Morrison, 44, entered a home without permission and threw a series of firecrackers under the bed of a nine-year-old who was sleeping soundly at the time. They say that the landlord told them that Morrison lives in a tent on the outside.
MPs also said the landlord had told them that he had chased Morrison out of his home with a stick.
They say the little girl told MPs that she was awake to the sound of the fireworks that exploded in her room, which scared her, cried and trembled.
MPs said that when they arrested Morrison, they found about two grams of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.
He was charged with burglary, cruelty to children without great prejudice and possession of a controlled substance.
