NASA landed the first astronauts on the Moon, Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, July 20, 1969. The historic Apollo 11 mission was soon followed by Apollo 12, Apolo 13, Apollo 14, Apollo 15, Apollo 16 and Apollo 17. On this list, the condemned Apollo 13 was the only mission never to land on the moon. But despite the six incredible journeys on the moon, the conspiracy theorists still claim that landings on the moon have been falsified.

There is however an orbital spacecraft orbiting the Moon at this very moment – the Moon Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO).

NASA's spacecraft has been flying around the moon since June 2009 to map the features of the moon.

The LRO probe can dive as low as 49.9 km (49.2 km) from Moon's hallmarked surface.

From this height, the spacecraft is able to photograph in detail each Apollo lunar landing site.

NASA took its first batch of landing site photos in July, just one month after the launch of the LRO.

The photo revealed the landing points of Apollo 11, Apollo 15, Apollo 16 and Apollo 17.

Shortly after, the space agency was able to photograph the landing sites of Apollo 14 and Apollo 12.

And in each case, the photos also revealed the Lunar Lander remains of each mission and the tools and instruments left behind.

Richard Vondrak of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center said: "These images not only reveal the great achievements of Apollo, they also show us that lunar exploration is continuing.

"They demonstrate how LRO will be used to identify the best destinations for future trips to the moon."

Apollo 11 landed in the sea of ​​tranquility of the Moon on July 20, 1969.

Apollo 12 landed in the Ocean of Storms of the Moon on November 19, 1969.

Apollo 14 landed in the lunar formation of Fra Mauro on February 5, 1971.

Apollo 15 landed in the lunar region of Hadley Rille on July 30, 1971.

Apollo 16 landed in the lunar formation of Cayley on April 21, 1972.

Apollo 17 landed in the Taurus-Littrow Moon Valley on December 11, 1972.
