EDGEWOOD, Ky. (LEX 18) – The celebration of the life of a former beloved British soccer player took place on Wednesday.
Jared Lorenzen died on July 3 after spending six days at the hospital. Lorenzen was the quarterback of the British football team and had been signed by the New York Giants in 2004. He had openly struggled with his weight and had returned to Lexington to team up with the organization "Now Let & "Get Fit" to help children adopt a healthy lifestyle. choices.
All those who interacted with Lorenzen remembered his kindness, his jovial humor and his humility. Former teammate Derek Smith told LEX 18 that he was grateful for his friendship with Kentucky's former Kentucky football.
"It's an honor to be associated with Jared this way and to know him as well as I do," Smith said.
Mark Stoops never coached Lorenzen, but he was still touched by his generous nature.
"Everyone I knew close to him had only good things to say about him, so he will be missed," Stoops said.
Lorenzen was 38 years old and leaves two children.
The celebration of his life lasted until 18 hours. and was followed by an 18-hour burial service. at St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, Kentucky.
