Last week, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey found an excellent opportunity to shake his base.
The Republican state leader and ally of President Donald Trump mocked Nike for bending "to the current assault of politically correct and historical revisionism" for his decision to remember patriotic sneakers sporting a flag of the colonial era that has recently been co-opted by the white supremacist. groups like the Ku Klux Klan.
The recall would have been made under the pressure of Trump's spokesman and classic target, Colin Kaepernick.
Two days later, Ducey was spotted at a barbecue with Nikes on July 4th.
On Thursday, he welcomed the company with open arms after the state's trade authority confirmed that Nike would build the Goodyear factory.
So, about this outrage
The decision to wear Nikes on July 4th was perhaps not a decision, but rather the habit of wearing a pair of comfortable and casual shoes to attend an outdoor party.
This would be a reasonable but not entirely plausible explanation for the antithetical choice of clothing.

But this tweet Thursday. There is no way around this. Ducey's message was a conscious, clear and active decision to welcome the society he had so violently attacked just a few days ago.
This was done without any context or mention of his previous contempt.
